Time for another slow hand clap for Kate over at Farm and Foundry.
Over New Year's, we hosted a rather large tribe of folks from the Midwest at our house to celebrate Iowa playing in the Rose Bowl. Both Mr. Gooder and I have relatives that graduated from there. And yes, we did go to the game. (If you're not a sports fan, it was a rather depressing blow out.)
Before our guests arrived, Mr. Gooder announced that he wanted bouquets of roses to greet our guests. Me being me, I announced that plain old roses wouldn't do. So I enlisted Kate's help to create some stunning florals.
Iowa's colors are yellow and black, and I couldn't wait to hear Kate's ideas for such a challenging palette.
Unfortunately, I snapped these photos about 4 days after the arrangements were created. Some of the blooms were starting to fade, but they still looked stunning. My bad.
It was also a treat creating the arrangements with Kate. I tagged along with her to the LA Flower Mart (my first visit there) and got to see her strategies and tips for picking out the perfect blooms.
And then, watching her work back at her house, I felt like I was at a floral arrangement master class for one. I simply adore her uncanny (and fearless) knack for combining florals that would scare the crap out of most people- Like roses alongside sunflowers. Unexpected and brilliant.
If you have a moment, go hop over to Farm and Foundry and check out all the fun stuff this gal has going on! (Including chickens!)
